Was planning to redo this again one day, so this was a good opportunity.
Since 2008 I've improved my drawing skills considerably, although in this piece it may seem very subtle. My handling of folds in clothing and my line weight has improved. In terms of composition and storytelling skills, I've redrawn the foreground character to add a little more interest. Instead of him looking like just another young character, I've placed more expression in his face to indicate he might not be too happy with what the other guy has in his hands. By also removing the cards from the FG's character it removes the focus on that area as well and brings it back to the center character. I added a few lighting touches here and there to add more form to them, as well as adding the hand on the female, because hands are a great tool of expression.
I like in the new one how you blurred the guy on the left, it makes him appear out of focus and redirects the attention on the guy in the center. Also I like noir.
