An older piece I figured I might as well submit. This is from last semester for a surrealism assignment.
The point of the assignment was to create a painting from subconscious means. I'm not sure what that means but in this case, I painted an acrylic wash of Pthalo Blues and Greens, then placed pieces of aluminum foil and scrap pieces of paper over them, waited for a few moments and then peeled them out. The result yielded an interesting texture base, from which I painted in whatever I saw from the textures. For me, I saw a bunch of strange looking faces and bodies (That's what's in the hair for both pieces).
Because of my inclination to control things, I was allowed to create something more contrived then just the mere faces I painted. That's when I thought it might be cool to draw all these faces inside the mass of a woman's hair...
